My plans for this week.
Last night I created a chart with sections for each of my three children and with a checklist of things to be done with each child this week with regards to their education. We’re trying to get back into a schedule of some sort.
Darling son — He’s reading well so I’ve agreed to go easy on him through the summer. He has promised to read one book per week for me and I’m happy with that. He’s also going to get back to working on his typing by practicing three times per week. I have chosen three reading/writing worksheets and three math related worksheets for him and he will work all at some point during the week. Three times per week he will also work one lesson from Sequential Spelling.
Darling daughters — Are not yet reading well so both are going to play phonics card games with me which are part of the Sing, Spell, Read and Write curriculum. They are able, with my help, to read the tiny Bob Books and will read a book a day to me, repeating each book as often as they choose so they can study the words and come to know them well. Three times per week they are going to do a writing assignment which I assign. They also each have 3 pages of phonics worksheets and 3 pages of math worksheets to work at some point during the week.
Science — to be done by all three. We’re studying solar energy and have plans to build a working solar oven. More about this later.
History — this is covered by our nightly bedtime reading. We just finished reading “History of the World” and have plans to begin reading about the History of Texas.
Math — we did a lot of math earlier this year. Now I’m planning just a couple of worksheets per week to keep it from slipping from their minds.
