Darling son can read but does not want to do so.
My son is ready to read. He’s excellent at reading individual words such as when we’re playing games or when we’re driving and he’s reading road signs. He seems to be able to read just about anything, but he doesn’t like to read books. He enjoys when I read books to him, but not reading it himself. I think so much text on the page is intimidating him.
OK. Finally I say “JUST DO IT”. I’ve tried to be patient thinking he will eventually take off and go on his own, but I’m tired of waiting. JUST DO IT! I pick out the absolute easiest books to read and set a goal of 30 books for which I will give him $20 for him to spend on the item of his choice.
JUST DO IT!
Is this the best way to get him going? I don’t know. It is my way I guess. We’ll see how it goes.
