It’s been about a month ago that I finally lost patience with waiting for dear son to realize that he already knows how to read. He knew how to read, especially when the words were coming at him one at a time such as when playing word games. But to read an entire book intimidated him. So I waited for him to be ready and to take off reading. Finally, I told him “JUST DO IT!” and so much for being patient.

I went through our huge stack of beginning readers and picked out the easiest for dear son to begin with, and he can read them although he doesn’t really enjoy doing so. Today he actually read one which is labeled as a “Level 3”. The book was Deputy Dan and the Bank Robbers. The book was a challenge for him, but he did it. He’s making great progress.
