This is our last day at home. We’re finishing up the packing.
Wednesday, October 26th, 2005The kids and I leave tomorrow evening for India so tonight I’m up late finishing up the packing. We don’t leave until evening, but we’ve got a two hour drive by car to Los Angeles and then need to be to the airport three hours early as is recommended for international flights.
In packing this week I was trying to make things easy on myself and had decided I would be taking only two large suitcases. One for clothing and our other necessities and the other to hold gift for friends and family. And I would have made it too if I could have kept the hubby home and out of the stores.
Hubby went shopping again today and drug home more stuff. He’s buying gifts for all the family in India. I am now up to two large suitcases and three carry-on size, plus he’s got each kid packing a backpack of toys and their own personal goodies! Yikes! That is me with three six year old children and EIGHT pieces of luggage. I just pray that when we get to Mumbai all kids are awake and alert and ready to help out.
At Mumbai we must collect our luggage and go through Indian customs and clearances, then board another flight to Bangalore. Family are meeting us in Bangalore so that won’t be a problem, but I do worry a bit about Mumbai. There should be porters who can help. There were last time, so hopefully things will be the same this time.
I’ve set up “post by email” to this blog so I should have no problem keeping this updated as we travel.
